Real Madrid have proven their strength in depth - Pepe

The defender hailed his his side's win over Almeria despite the changes to the starting line-up, while Emilio Butragueno moved to allay concerns over a transfer ban.Real Madrid defender Pepe believes his side have proven the quality they have throughout the squad following their 3-0 win over Almeria.

Carlo Ancelotti opted to rest a handful of first-team stars for the clash at Santiago Bernabeu, with Keylor Navas, Alvaro Arbeloa, Asier Illarramendi and Jese Rodriguez all handed starts, while Martin Odegaard earned a place on the bench. And Pepe feels the European champions have shown the strength in depth they possess with their victory, which came courtesy of James Rodriguez, Arbeloa and a Mauro dos Santos own goal."We have shown that we have a lot of quality in our squad," Pepe told Gol Television."I am very happy for James and Chicharito because they are players who always work hard."This shirt is a very demanding one. Every player loves to play games like the ones we have ahead."Madrid have forcibly denied suggestions of any wrongdoing over the transfer of minors after reports suggested they could face similar sanctions to those which hit Barcelona, who are currently under a ban on registering players. However, club director Emilio Butragueno has moved to allay any concerns among supporters."It's not a bad result. We faced a team that played good football, it wasn't an easy game but we scored in critical moments," he told Canal Plus after Wednesday's game."We want to tell our fans we are absolutely calm about that [Fifa's investigation], it's not an issue."
