Berlusconi set to sell 48 per cent Milan stake

Thai investor Bee Taechaubol is ready to acquire nearly half of the Rossoneri in a deal reportedly worth up to €470 million to the club.AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi has revealed he is close to agreeing a deal that will see him sell a 48 per cent stake in the club to Thai investor Bee Taechaubol. The Rossoneri have been forced to sell off some of their biggest names in recent years and have subsequently struggled in Serie A with minimal investment in the playing squad.
However, Berlusconi hopes the deal, which La Gazzetta dello Sport have reported could be worth up to €470 million, will see Milan become competitive domestically and in Europe once again. For now it's a deal that must be confirmed, but it is surely good news for Milan, he told ANSA news agency. We want to make Milan competitive again.Berlusconi's holding company Fininvest added: Berlusconi, who will continue as president, and Mr Taechaubol will work together to build a great and ambitious project to return Milan to the top level of Italian football.Taechaubol himself revealed on he had opportunities to invest elsewhere but always had his heart set on the Rossoneri.I could've bought three Premier League clubs but I didn't want any club other than Milan, he told reporters.Retaining a 52% stake in Milan means Berlusconi remains at the helm of the side currently under the stewardship of former striker Filippo Inzaghi.
