Icardi: Inter gave everything to beat Roma

The striker's late winner gave his side victory and he believes their faith in Roberto Mancini's tactics was key.Inter match winner Mauro Icardi says Inter made "great sacrifices" to fight to a dramatic 2-1 win over Roma on Sunday.

Hernanes put the home side ahead after 15 minutes and though Radja Nainggolan equalised, Roberto Mancini's men snatched all three points through Icardi's 88th-minute winner. The Nerazzurri have not enjoyed a particularly good season but they are now unbeaten in four Serie A matches and have won three of those games to leave themselves four points adrift of Fiorentina in the final Europa League spot.Icardi revealed their success was down to carrying out former Manchester City coach Mancini's instructions to the letter, while revealing he is close to putting pen to paper on a new Inter deal."We gave everything on the pitch to defeat Roma," he told Mediaset. "We did everything Mancini asked for, pressing the other team in pursuit of goals."Then we put in a performance full of great sacrifices and managed to come out winners. Inter want to continue this project next season, the history of Inter will help us fight for important positions."As for my contract renewal, if the club and my agent can come to terms then I'll definitely be signing a new contract shortly."Inter are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Udinese - who beat AC Milan on Saturday - as they pursue their outside chance of bagging a European spot.
