Liverpool keen on Jovetic move

The Manchester City forward is wanted by Juventus and Inter but Brendan Rodgers is also an admirer of the 25-year-old, who has struggled for regular first-team football.Liverpool are interested in signing Manchester City forward Stevan Jovetic in the summer.

Brendan Rodgers has bemoaned his side's lack of firepower this season and the club are keen to bolster their strikeforce early on in the transfer window. The Reds pushed through a late deal with AC Milan to sign Mario Balotelli back in August 2014 but the Italian has struggled to make an impact in England, scoring just one goal in the Premier League since moving to Anfield.Liverpool are understood to have stolen a march on Manchester United in the race to sign Dutch sensation Memphis Depay, but Rodgers is also weighing up a bid for Jovetic.City would be open to selling Jovetic this summer but would prefer the 25-year-old to move to Serie A, where the former Fiorentina man has a number of suitors.
Juventus enquired over a move to take Jovetic on loan for the rest of the season in January with a view to a permanent transfer.
Inter have also expressed an interest in signing the Montenegrin, who is thought to be open to a reunion with former City boss Roberto Mancini, and the forward's agent has held initial discussions with the club over a potential transfer. After an injury-hit first season in England, Jovetic has started nine games in the Premier League this campaign, making 17 top-flight appearances in total and scoring five goals.Rodgers, meanwhile, has expressed a desire to supply Daniel Sturridge, who has had a string of injury problems this season, with more support in attack this summer."We're [in the] top five defensively in the league but obviously the critical area, as it was when I first came, was goalscoring and it's something we need to improve," Rodgers said on Monday."It's certainly an area we need to address come the summer. We have a top-class striker here in Daniel [Sturridge] but he also needs help."
