Wenger: Sign Fabregas? No, Arsenal have Alexis & Ozil

The former Gunners captain joined Chelsea last summer but the Frenchman insists he was not tempted to make a bid with the World Cup-winner and Chilean already at the club.Arsene Wenger has insisted there was "no logic" in Arsenal re-signing Cesc Fabregas with Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil already at the club.

The former Gunners captain joined Chelsea last summer from Barcelona for a fee of around €36 million, with Alexis moving to the Emirates Stadium the following month. The Chile international has impressed in his debut season, contributing 21 goals and nine assists, while Ozil - a club-record arrival a year earlier - is flourishing of late after a period marred by injury problems and inconsistent displays. When asked about why he declined to sign Fabregas for Arsenal, Wenger said: "There would be congestion. We don't only have Sanchez and Ozil but also Jack Wilshere in this position, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Aaron Ramsey."When you spend £40m (€55m) on a position you already have players in, you have to question the logic. When a big player goes from your club, everyone says you have to buy another one with the same qualities."But once you have brought another one with the same qualities and then he wants to come back, it is not obvious to spend so much money on a position that is exactly the same.
