The former AC Milan coach says Italian football did not benefit from Inter's 2010 Champions League win due to the composition of the squad.Arrigo Sacchi says that Italian football always ends up in a crisis when there is an increase in foreign players in Serie A.The former AC Milan boss has come under criticism for belittling Inter's 2010 Champions League win after he said it was a shame that the team had so few Italian players in it.The 69-year-old said: It was a team made up entirely of foreigners. What a pity. So we are willing to win if we sell our souls to the devil.
However, the ex-coach has moved to clarify his comments and said that having too many foreign players is a shame for Italian football.I have so much respect for the players of that Inter team. But I think that Italian football has not benefited from that success, he told Gazzetta dello Sport. Whenever there is an invasion of foreigners in our league, it has led to disaster. When I was technical director of Real Madrid, we brought in the most famous players in the world but we were criticised because we were not playing local players. Don't complain if our national team is not good.I'm not racist and do not have a problem with Inter, but our league is the only championship in which the arrival of foreigners is growing.I speak only for the good of our football; the Champions League won by a foreign Inter team was a shame for our football, not for Inter.
